An Easter....skirt

I was lying in bed on Saturday night when I realized I didn't have much in the way of "Easter" attire for church the next day. Sure, I'd planned everything for the kids and even bought Ben a new tie. But me? ...nah...that always comes last. In my current wardrobe there is nothing but dark/black skirts. I had a few springish shirts, but no skirt to coordinate. You just can't wear black on Easter Sunday.

I've been looking for a denim skirt for quite some time with no luck. I then thought of the numerous pairs of jeans sitting in my closet that don't get much use...for whatever reasons. You ladies know exactly what I'm talking about, right?

I decided I'd google "turning a pair of jeans into a skirt" the next day.

Most of the diy stuff I found was pretty similar. I then decided I would just go for it. Because, that's what I do.

I couldn't believe I was actually making something I was going to wear to church that day. (crossing my fingers) I got through with the denim and held it up. Hmm...not too shabby! But then the true test came...trying it on. Sure enough, it fit! I then decided to add a ruffle to the bottom. In my mind that had been the plan anyway.

This was the end product. Can you believe it? I can't. I am totally intrigued with this idea of taking some piece in my wardrobe and making it functional again.

Don't be surprised if you see me on Project Runway next season. Ha. Ha.
Though, I must say I love to watch the designers to see what they come up with and I've always been itching to try it out myself. Although there's one HUGE hiccup. I. Am. Not. A. Seamstress.

The last photo is quite funny. I had Ben taking these photos for me after church. (the sandals came off right away...sorry). Ladybug was watching as he took them. After the last photo...with my crazy face, she said "take picture a me". She was totally making fun of me...can you believe it! What a goon.

Great idea Holly! I seriously need a denim skirt, perhaps I'll borrow your idea. By the way, what's up with you saying you're not a seamstress? You taught me how to sew! Remember Nya's flower Halloween costume? You're an awesome seamstress!
